Leadership Lessons from Dancing Guy
I like how he says, "They won't be ridiculed and they won't stand out" @1:37 just as the fat chick runs into frame. No amount of "following the pack" can help her. [/asshole comment of the day]

Jon Stewart Does 13 Minutes Of Glenn Beck
Damn impressive. OF course I wish Beck would stop associating himself with libertarians. His stance on immigration and war make him a neocon.

Standing Your Ground Against Police
@rottenseed. Yes, it's weird that he would approach the cop. Still, when the cop told him to step back, he complied. That's where the issue should had ended.

I think the guy handled the situation just fine. He didn't give in to fear and instead calmly repeated "am I required to do that"? The answer is no, but the cops lied. When he called them out on their lie, they tried to create some silly argument like, "well, you approached my scene, so I have a right to protect my scene and what if you're a felon?" That's ridiculous.

I think he won the moment he asked, "Do you stop everyone you see to check if they're felons."

Does the State make money on Prisons/Prisoners? (Law Talk Post)
When an arrest is made, the offense tends to have a steep fine. It's an income generator. Like DFT said, the prison industrial complex makes loads of money from locking people up, and, yes, we have 1% of our population in prison.

We're the world leader in lock ups.

To gwiz's point, you can't look at government as trying to gain capital and build a savings from the income they generate. The more they do, the more they spend, the more they grow, and at that point they can justify the increase in taxes that go into the general fund. Government grows. That's what it does. It doesn't save or build upon capital like those benefiting from the prison industrial complex.

Does the State make money on Prisons/Prisoners? (Law Talk Post)
I'm not sure the "government" makes money from the prisons directly. The more they arrest, the more money they make from the "criminals". Arrests are great revenue generators for cities and states.

Also it creates an industry called the prison industrial complex, and it's yet another reason for big business to nestle up next to daddy government and collude.

Standing Your Ground Against Police
I like the Jedi mind trick he does on them at the very end of the video.

In the US, firearm ownership is supposed to be a right. If something is a right, how can it ever be illegal?

One day soon some free speech will be outlawed... it starts with hate speech.

One day soon your religious rights will be regulated... it starts with the same sex marriages being outlawed.

One day soon your right to free press will be infringed... it starts with the outlawing of cameras.

One day soon your protection from quartered troops in your home will be abolished... it starts with the Patriot Act.

One day soon your right to due process will be done away with... it also starts with the Patriot Act.

One day soon your right to protection from cruel punishment will be replaced with routine "advanced interrogation techniques"... another one that starts with the Patriot Act.

Thanks!

All I can say is thank goodness for video cameras. Had he not been filming, he likely would have been arrested on charges of obstruction and attempted assault/manslaughter. It would have come down to the word of two officers versus some random guy.

I am thankful that this guy is out there, doing his bit.

Maddow- Why Daylight Saving Time?
I'd like to do away with it, but just keep the days longer. No need to ever "fall back" in my book.
