....looks like the soldier intended to give the kids the water eventually, boys havin' fun is the same everywhere in the world,...but the dumbass shoulda made sure the kid would get it, and not dropped the thing near the other kids, he wasn't paying attention....he probly' felt shitty afterward.....so...
neither, is the answer to the question, for anyone bright enough to listen, look ,and leave yer bull shit emotions and politics out of it, that should be the only answer....

"he probly' felt shitty afterward"

That's specualtion--overly charitable speculation, given what I saw in the video.

"leave yer bull shit emotions and politics out of it"

Yeah, because there can never be rational reasons to be angry. This was cruelty, plain and simple. And maybe that doesn't bother you, choggie, but it pisses me the fuck off. Why is it cruelty? Because when you're living in a city where you can't get clean water--which is NECESSARY FOR LIFE, mind you--someone taunting you with the fact that they have water, and feigning like they're going to give it to you (only to throw it on the ground like you're a dog) is cruel.

If it's candy or something, or the boy has at least as good a shot of finding the water somewhere else, then it's just "boys having fun." Otherwise, it's sadistic. So kiss my ass with all the "don't let your emotions get involved" crap.

I am not an animal LadyBug. I am perfectly aware that it's cruel. I said so in my post on my site. What do you see, funny joke or inhumane act?.....

Written by Bill Larson in : Military, Rants, The World - trackback

I feel that the video below shows intentional cruelty by an officer and brings dishonor on the army, and every soldier fighting in Iraq. The man holding the bottle was a officer as indicated by the person doing the filming repeatedly referring to him as sir. The officer should be charged under the UCMJ with Conduct unbecoming of an officer, the enlisted man who was filming should be ashamed.

How are our soldiers susposed to win a war in a hostile country, when they do things like this which will prevent them from ever winning the hearts and minds of the Iraqi population. This quite likely will end up being used by the insurgency as a very effective recruiting video. The video is below the fold.

It's time to bring our troops home now.
In response to your response. Only animals would vote against this video. I posted this video with that title simply to encourage people to think. Nothing more. I wanted them to judge the video for themselves. I strongly encourage both LadyBug and farhad2000 to reconsider their votes against this video. It's said that when you assume something you make a ASS out of yoU and ME.

BL968, I simply acted out of emotion after watching this, but you are absolutely right, bringing this to mass attention is far more productive. I implore people to upvote.

My upvote is NOT a vote supporting the act, but for posterity. We bear witness to the inhumanity exhibited here.

go USA! we kicked their 6-year-old asses!

personally I think the soldiers who did that should be forced to recenact it (taking the roles of the kids) on a daily basis for at least a month - scaled up, of course. a daily 1 mile dead sprint for their lunch seems fair. Though perhaps with the truck chasing them.

Wow. I'm still upvoting this to get this some attention dang nammit.

And leave ladybug and farvie alone. They're only guilty for being heavy hearted after watching something like this.

Ironic how all this reminds me of the whole 'are you for the war or against the war' debate tactics where if you sympathize with Iraqis you're a terrorist!

Same thing here except if you upvoted this, you're a inhumane animal!

xD oh the irony irony irony.

notice the no vote from the only person to give the soldiers the benifit of the doubt???...If they live, they may live to regret it, or not....you do not know the state of mind of the soldiers, though it is a good bet, it is as you all say, from their actions alone....however, the possibility remains, the soldiers could have been passing time, with the kids, like they do everyday, while they are there....soldiers and civilians make bonds during occupation, that may seem harsh to us looking in through our little puter windows and TV's, but business friendly during war....so i don't like war either, but fuck the media's nose in it, mucking it up, like the fuck from CNN, who followed the Al Qaeda sniper and filmed him kill a marine, whilst he gave a play by play.....he should be , bound, pitched, feathered, lashed to Germalo Rivera, and Chisti A-man-poor, set alight, and catapulted..into a wall..
.

Very Good Points in the above postings... There are more cruel things in life than this. I'm not saying he should have done it BUT these are the same kids that throw rocks, stones and anything they can find. They steal and loot whenever possible and help set IED's on the roads. While not ALL of them do these things most do.

And to the person who brought up Karma and IED's ... well maybe it is just the opposite and that this is the KIDS punishment side of karma for setting those in the first place ... haha

...For all those people taking everything seriously, you should have a field day with my post

choggie, no one from CNN filmed an attack from the sniper's point-of-view - they rebroadcast film that the snipers made of it themselves, which is where the controversy came from.

You can be astonishing consistent in how often you're wrong with the facts, you know that?

"these are the same kids that throw rocks, stones and anything they can find. They steal and loot whenever possible and help set IED's on the roads. While not ALL of them do these things most do."

Jeez, unsung hero, blame the victim much?

Do you really think that kid would've run that far if he wasn't absolutely desperate for clean water? And do you really think twelve-year-old kids are the ones setting explosives? (flipside of that, of course, is if they keep being treated like that by soldiers, damn right they're gonna throw rocks at them. I would too.

there is nothing good about this clip ... and sorry, but i don't subscribe to the meme that 'everyone needs to see this'.

i am certainly not naive to the ways of the world ... besides dealing with common mental illnesses, as a psych nurse i treat murderers, rapists, kidnappers, and child molesters every single day ... i certainly don't come home and relay any of their stories for posterity's sake because i think that someone in my family would benefit from hearing it.

i don't think this is something that should be propagated, ergo there is no need for me to reconsider my vote. i don't need to see acts of cruelty to give me pause for thought, i'm well aware of the world we live in.

anyway ... off to better things!

it's cruel. it's terrible. it's HUMANE, meaning that we humans are often a sad and evil race and it's usual for many of us to do things such as this.

yeah, it's bad, it's wrong, but IT IS REALITY.

face it.

you may not like it, you may prefer not to watch it, and it's a perfectly reasonable choice.
